Energising Development (ENDEV) is a global initiative in 26 countries and in three continents (Africa, Asia and Latin America) implemented by the German Cooperation (GIZ) for the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Donor countries are Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and Switzerland.
EnDev’s Objective is to ensure that “The people in the project region have better access to a sustainable, modern, reliable, affordable, socially responsible and environmentally friendly energy supply”. EnDev is also committed towards contributing to more gender equality in the Renewable Energy sector, strengthening female professionals.
EnDev Sierra Leone has secured a 2-lamps and 3-lamps lighting systems to donate to the health sector as well as some social institutions.
Health facilities selection criteria are based on three main priority areas:
a) Focus on maternal and child health
b) Focus on places that have no electricity or very limited electricity and
c) Ensure health facility size, needs and infrastructure are well adapted to the capacity of the solar home system
